At the end of Zion National Park’s main canyon the road finishes and one of the world’s most unique “trails” starts. I’m not really sure I can call it a “trail” though, because…well, there isn’t one: hiking The Narrows basically involves hiking in the river that flows through the canyon. Only a few meters wide in places, with sandstone walls that tower hundreds of meters above, it really is a different experience.
Taking note of the weather to ensure there was no risk of rain (the flash-flood warnings are a serious hazard and one to avoid) we rented our river-ready hiking kit (neoprene-hiking boots and a stick) from the Zion Outfitters at the park south entrance.
